Description

* WHAT...A moderate period northwest swell will result in a moreenergetic surf zone and an increased risk of sneaker waves andrip currents. Breaking waves of 10 to 13 ft are expected withsome potential for breaking waves up to 15 ft to develop.* WHERE...Northern Monterey Bay.* WHEN...Until 6 AM PST Friday.* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. Largewaves can sweep across the beach without warning, pullingpeople into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. Suddenimmersion in cold water can result in cold water shock evenfor the most experienced swimmers. Cold water shock can resultin dramatic changes in breathing, heart rate and bloodpressure, greatly increasing the risk of drowning in roughopen waters.
